Heavenly Father I praise You for the unity of marriage, the unity of family, and unity among close friends. I praise You for the ability to pray and have a relationship with You, which allows me unity in Spirit with Your Spirit. I praise You and am forever grateful for the truth that You desire to have this relationship with us even to the point of coming to earth and dying on a cross to give us a bridge to cross over the sin in our lives that was keeping us from You.
Holy Spirit Your word says: Two are better than one because there is good reward for their labor together. For if they fall, then one will help the up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has no one to help him up. Also if two lie down together, then they will keep warm: but how can one keep warm by himself? And if someone might overpower another by himself, two together can withstand him. A Threefold cord is not quickly broken. [Ecclesiastes 4:9-12] I have learned the wisdom that marriage with You in it is a threefold cord. When two or three gather in Your name and pray they become this threefold cord. When a family learns to pray and worship together they become this threefold cord and when a church unites within itself and with other churches they become as mighty as a threefold cord that stretches across the land.
Holy Spirit You never intended for us to do life alone or to struggle alone. I have witnessed the power, strength, and courage when unity happens whether in a marriage, family, or church. I have also seen what divided churches, families, and marriages are like where hate, anger, pain, sorrow, and hurt reign and people are miserable and alone. Your Trinity exemplifies the unity we should be a part of. The unity of Spirit, mindset, goals, and desires is what should be the goal of all marriages so that the two can become one in fellowship with You. Some of the greatest revivals in the world happened because there was a person who would go before the evangelist and get people to fast and pray allowing Your Spirit to fully come in and consume the area so that hearts were opened to receive Your word and salvation. Unity even changed the constitution for a period to stop alcoholism in our country.
The strength of unity can never be taken for granted and can only occur when all parties submit to the will of God and His Spirit.
Now I urge you, brethren, to note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf, but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. (Romans 16:17-20)
