Abiding Like a Vine

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:9-13)

Holy Spirit Christ spoke these words and was recorded by his disciple John: “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that bears no fruit, He takes away. And He prunes every branch that bears fruit, that it may bear more fruit.  You are already clean through the words I have spoken to you.  Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you, unless you remain in Me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. He who remains in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit. For without Me, you can do nothing.  If a man does not remain in Me, he is thrown out as a branch and withers. And they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.  If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it shall be done for you.  My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit; so, you will be My disciples. “As the Father loved Me, I also loved you. Remain in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have spoken these things to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment: that you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. [John 15:1-13, MEV]

I seek to abide in You so that I know what I should ask for in prayer so that I can grow and bear the fruit that will bring, build, and sustain Your kingdom in my surroundings. Help me to breathe Your word in daily, and let it flow through my blood to every member of my body so that this living temple can be fully engulfed in Your Spirit so that I can be the beacon on a hill, courageous and bold in You, not of my strength for I am pathetically weak. Let me pray with steadfastness, boldness, wisdom, and faith so that I am wise in my relationship with You.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Amen. [Romans 15:13]
