Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me! For my soul seeks refuge in You; in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until the ruinous storm passes by. I will cry to God Most High, to God who vindicates me. He will send from heaven and save me from the taunt of the one who crushes me. Selah. God will send forth His mercy and His truth. My soul is among lions, and I lie among the sons of men who blaze like fire, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may Your glory be above all the earth. [Psa. 57:1-5 MEV.]
Holy Spirit I cry out to You today, I seek healing for my friends, like Jim who has cancer again. For a young woman who continually suffers pain, passing out and multiple complications for doctors to try to find a cure. I pray for friends who have lost love ones to COVID this year. I pray for family that also have lost the battle to COVID and many who are suffering because of it. I pray for my prisoners who once again spend a year incarcerated away from their families at Christmas. I pray for the churches who have suffered financially this year because of COVID and people afraid to attend church. I pray for the families who have recently lost their homes to fires and storms. I pray for the people in Kentucky who have lost people and homes to the tornado.
Holy Spirit we seek grace and mercy this Holiday. Help people to demonstrate mercy and grace to each other. Let brotherly love reign instead of hate. Let us show hospitality and change our world around us by being known for our love and generosity. Help us to give of our time, of our resources and our talents. Teach us to love our neighbor as You set the bar when You were here on earth. Help us to quit playing Christian and be a true Christ follower who is a living sacrifice and puts self, last. Let us learn to love each other instead of picking at each others faults. Help us to quit petty arguments about doctrine and worry about the great commission. Teach us to be the shining start that is needed in this dark world which sleeps and knows not the end is near.
To God be the glory in the highest, who was, is and will always be our king, our God, our Savior and our Creator. We honor You with praise and with our lives, teach us to show graciousness and mercy. Amen.
