Being a Servant Leader

Heavenly Father I praise You for today for putting me in a leadership position as a principal over two different schools and staffs. I praise You for the wisdom of the Bible to help me navigate as a leader who has to come under and answer to leaders higher than me. I praise You for how well You provided me with staff that does a good job and is solid. Help me to be more like Jesus as I do this job.

Holy Spirit You helped usher Jesus into our world as a baby under a local carpenter who was faithful to You. There is not much account of Jesus as a child but we do know he was reared like all Hebrew boys to learn the Tora before he was 12. We know that when left at the Temple at 12 he astounded them with his wisdom and understanding. I am also sure he learned to be a carpenter under his father’s tutelage as well as farming under Mary. What strikes me often and is the lasting example Christ gave us for being leaders was when he washed the feet of His disciples. This was to teach us that even as a leader we are no better than anyone else. Also, if we serve and make life just a little more easier for those who work with us they will see their worth. The whole point of Christ coming to earth was to rebuild the bridge between man and God. That relationship which starts with the gift of salvation leads to us learning our purpose for being created and our worth as an adopted son or daughter to the King of Kings. We help people to see hope, to feel encouraged, and to become strong. That is the leader I desire to be. Help me to understand if and when I may need to lower myself to “wash feet” to make my people know they are appreciated and capable of so much more.

Holy Spirit help me to hear the wisdom John wrote: John A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this, all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. Let it be so in my life and those I serve and lead. Amen.
