Being Wise in How I use the Word

Heavenly Father I praise You for sending Jesus to walk among us for a small period of time and teaching us, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” [John 15:7&8] I in all ways want to glorify You with my life, how I live, and by how I speak and treat others.

Holy Spirit I am admonished to: Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying in the Spirit always with all kinds of prayers and supplications. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. [Ephesians 6:17&18] I have prayed Your word and through the Spirit, since I became a follower in June of 1982 when I was 16. I have over the years sharpened my sword to fight temptations, ask for healing, and pray in the gap for individuals, churches, communities, programs, and my country. I have prayed for missionaries, pastors, laymen, and college students. I have prayed intercessory prayers for non-believers to become Your children and I have prayed for funding to help mission trips and to help communities through the bounty of the church. I have learned that You always answer but that You have time for all answers and Your thoughts are above my thoughts. I always surrender my will for Yours to be done. I seek today for all who read this prayer to pray healing and direction for Kayla as she has walked a daunting walk in learning all that is wrong with her body, yet she faithfully testifies of Your faithfulness and stands solidly on her faith in You. I seek Your will, but I also claim Your words that say: “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” [James 5:13-15; James 5:16; James 4:10]

Help me to I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers [and sisters], I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Let me not love in word or tongue but in deed and truth. And by this, I will know that I am of the truth, and shall be assured in my heart before Him. My heart does not condemn me, so I have confidence before God and receive from him anything I ask because I obey his commands and do what pleases him. Let this be so always in my life. Amen.
