Calling on Jesus

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart: before the gods I will sing Your praise. I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and for Your truth; for You have exalted Your word above all Your name. On the day I called, You answered me, and strengthened me in my soul. All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, for they have heard the words of Your mouth. Indeed, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord. Though the Lord is exalted, yet He has concern for the lowly, but the proud one He knows from a distance. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will preserve me. (Psa. 138:1-7)

Holy Spirit You told Jeremiah to “‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’” [Jeremiah 33:3, the Message] Holy Spirit remind me that when I face trouble, or the storms of life to pray. Remind me when times are going great to pray, and when life is just passing me by to pray. Help me to reach out to the life giver and renew my mind and my faith. Help me to learn to depend on You for everything. Help me to confide in the one who knows my heart and all my thoughts. Help me to put my trust in You instead of becoming anxious. Help me to start to put my faith in action instead of getting emotionally upset about things I can’t control. Help me to always seek peace when possible but to be bold and firm when needed. Help me to be like the tree planted by the river standing tall and strong no matter the weather of life.

Holy Spirit help me to remember that You resist the proud, so help me to stop pride from entering my heart. Help me to understand what it is to be meek. Teach me to walk in Your principles and to use Your wisdom to make my decisions. Help me to always acknowledge You as my Lord and Savior and my personal friend. Help me to step up to the responsibilities of being a child of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
