Children

Heavenly Father, I praise You for allowing me to be a father and a grandfather. I praise You for giving me an opportunity to grow with my children and now keep alive and energetic with my grandchildren. I praise You for creating the family structure and for Your mercy for those who do not have the traditional type of family.

Holy Spirit I read how Christ felt about children when he rebuked his disciples for trying to keep the children away. Matthew records that Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We have a lot to learn from children who are learning from us. We need to go back to simple basics with our salvation, like trusting unconditionally, believing with all that we are in Christ and his salvation. We need to enjoy life and live every possible moment given to us refusing to give in to stress and the mundane. We need to seek order while still maintaining our wonder and amazement in who God is and what He has created.

Holy Spirit I pray this morning that You will put a hedge around my children and my grandchildren. I pray that You will protect them from evil and keep them safe. I pray that You will bring wisdom and understanding into their lives and that I will be the example that You need to teach them on how to live. Help me to always show love and to always protect them when I need to, but to also allow them to make mistakes and learn. Help me to win their hearts to go to church and to learn to worship. Let me be the example of studying Your word and praying.

The heavens declare Your glory, oh God; the skies proclaim the work of Your hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens You have pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other nothing is hidden from its heat. The law of the Lord is perfect reviving my soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold, they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen. [Matthew 19:14; Psalms 19]
