Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak, and You are blameless when You judge. I was brought forth in my iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You make me to know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones that You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. [Psalm 51:1-17]
Holy Spirit John tells us, “If we confess (get into agreement with God about who we are, have been and who we will be with Him entering our lives) our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.” [1 John 1:9; 1 John 2:12-14]
Holy Spirit David learned that confession was how a person stays within the will of God, because it humbles us to the point we allow God to create the change in us because we are not able to do it ourselves. Holy Spirit I still struggle with anger, frustration and disappointment with where I am in life and what I am doing and who I do it under. Help create a change in my life so that this does not consume me, destroy me or take my eyes off Your will. Help me to continue to renew my mind with scripture, worship, accountability to others, wisdom from others and so that I have a full focus of what I am to do within Your will. Help me to tame my tongue, my temperament, my attitude and my outlook. In Your mighty and powerful name, Amen.
