Consuming Fire of God

Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” (Heb. 12:28)  We praise You, Father, for this consuming fire and we ask that You will let us be consumed by this fire so that we can be poured out for Your purpose in our life. We give You glory and honor and praise for making us with a purpose and for allowing us the opportunity to worship You daily.  Let us continually offer to You a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess Your name. And let us not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices You are very pleased with us. (Heb. 13:16&16)

Holy Spirit we know from John when he wrote Revelations that our prayers are kept in golden bowls as incense for Christ to breathe in the fragrance of our spirit and know that we worship, honor and put our faith in Him.  Holy Spirit put within us today the Holy Fire that You gave the 120 in the upper room so that we can go out and boldly proclaim Your salvation to a world that desperately needs it.  Help us to live the rest of our lives with this boldness and with this fire burning within us so that we can become the example for all, our families, our friends, our neighbors, and our communities to know that we are servants of Jesus Christ filled with the Holy Spirit living a life courageously as a living sacrifice for the glory of God and doing His will.  Help us to demonstrate love, joy, and true honest prayer with faith that demonstrates the loving Father we serve.  Help us to be willing to make fools of ourselves so that others can learn of Christ.  Help us to do what the Holy Spirit leads us to do even if it makes us uncomfortable or frightened.  We come to You with humility that we are nothing without You in our lives and all that we are and all that we do will be because You live in within us and that we are completely consumed by Your all-consuming fire.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Rom. 15:5&6)  Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (Rom. 12:10-18)  Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. (2 Thess. 3:5) To Christ our Savior, Amen!
