DevouringGod’s Word 

 Lord, You understand; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You
are long-suffering—do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your
sake. When Your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear Your name, Lord God Almighty. 

Holy Spirit, I come to You today asking for wisdom to get more from the scriptures I
consume each day. I ask for wisdom when I must face the world’s criticism of
what we who claim to be Christ followers do that is supposedly wrong. In many ways many of us have failed to preserve the reputation of the body, but I also know many who have been
righteous and have not done this. Give me the grace and knowledge of how to address this or to keep my mouth quiet.  

Holy Spirit, Your word tells me: All scripture is given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. I would like to be fully equipped everyday to be able to do good work in building Your Kingdom here on the earth. Help me in view of Your mercy, to offer mybody as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You—this is my spiritual act
of worship. I will not conform anylonger to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Then I will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. This way I can serve You without distraction of sin that the world offers. Help me to stay within the freedom that I am given to live life without sin chaining me to this world for this world is not my home.  

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is
able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power
that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
