Discerning God’s Thoughts

Heavenly Father I praise You for standing by me during times of tribulation and troubles.  I praise You for the independence You give us to live while serving You with all that we have.  I praise You for the blessings that have come my way in life and for the ones You have given us in Your word.  I appreciate the fact that Christ was honest with us while here on the earth that life would be anything but easy and that we were not created to do this alone.

Holy Spirit I ask for who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  I have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that I may understand what God has freely given me.  This is what I have learned to speak, not in words taught to me by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.  Any man without the  Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.  The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment:  “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. [1 Corinthians 2:11-16]  Help me to continue to stay in the Spirit so that I can know the mind of Christ in my life for each day that I breathe.

Holy Spirit teach me to seek Your ways from when I wake up in the morning until at night when I fall asleep.  Help me to pray throughout the day so that we can keep our fellowship continue.  Help me to discern, comprehend and act upon what the Holy Spirit inspires me to do.  Help me to be bold in my faith when it is needed but not to waste my time on foolish or things not within the scope of Your Spirit.  Lord direct my heart into Your love and into the patience illustrated by Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
