Do You Take Command of the Morning?

Heavenly Father I praise You for loving us even when we are not at our best.  When we do not always have the right attitude or attention span.  I praise You that we do not have to clean up before we come to You for salvation, but instead You start the cleaning process so that we can be washed completely of our sins and filthiness.  I praise You for good days, boring days, sad days, bad days and exciting days.  I praise You for sending Jesus to earth, so that he can be an advocate for what we face in life and how we live.

“Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place, that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?” this is what God told Job in chapter 38, but it poses a good question to me in how I face each day.  Holy Spirit I come before You and ask that You teach me how to take command of the morning so that my attitude starts the day correctly, and that I can become such a force as a prayer warrior that the wicked will be shaken.  Help me to be like Daniel, Joseph, Joshua, Caleb, Peter, Paul and Silas that I will pray and have a spirit within me that jails will be shaken, angels will come and move me, governments will be changed and mountains, giants and promises will be taken.

Holy Spirit help me to remember what Paul wrote to the 2 Corinthians 9:6-9—Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will reap generously.  Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”  2 Corinthians 10:3-5—For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Holy Spirit remind me what battle I am ultimately fighting and to remember that all people were created in Your image and that You have offered salvation to all of them.  That I am not better than any one of them but I am forgiven.  Help me to pray with a spirit of a soldier who is battling to take back what has been lost to the enemy of man.  Help me to be fully focused, fully prepared and fully armed to do battle and to fight with my allies and not alone.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Holy Spirit help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us.  And over all these virtues help us to put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace.  Let us be thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God.  And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.  Amen.  Colossians 3:12-17
