Down but Not Out

Heavenly Father I praise You for the opportunity to reach out to the world through technology and pray before others.  I praise You for helping me learn to enter Your throne room and remind You of the promises You made to us through Your word.  I praise You that I have the opportunity to have prayer with so many others around the world through this medium of the internet.  I praise You that we are now able to spread Your good news to every corner of the world.

Holy Spirit I celebrate today being the day that Israel returned to being a nation, which has started the fulfilling of Your prophecies.  I pray that You will lift up Israel and protect her as You promised You would in the past.

Holy Spirit I also come to You a man who has been humbled, broken, and lost at times.  I have chosen to leave behind my old man and put on the new.  I have chosen to trust in You even though I do not understand many things in life.  I put my anchor down in the hope that one day I will reach heaven and no longer face pain, death, sin, evil and heartache.  I believe that You are God and that only by accepting Your gift of salvation am I an heir to Your kingdom.  I realize how I am not perfect or even close to perfection.  I am truly broken and realize that life only has meaning with You.  I face the scoffing of Your existence daily, yet I believe.  I face the heat of people's arguments that You are not good because of the brokenness of this world and the sin that runs rampant, and the evil that occurs to the good and to the faithful.  I face the pain and anguish of those who doubt you because of the unfairness of losing a love one who was good. I faced those who have wounded spirits and attack anyone who tries to get close to them.  Yet I not only believe in You, I try to serve and listen to You daily.  I try to support people in prayer.  I try to pray for all those who have said or done this against me because of You.  I have learned slowly the gift of forgiveness and how it frees me to live for You.  I am learning slowly the lessons of Job of what it means to lose so much, to face so much humiliation, to suffer family who do not understand my faith and have turned from God.  I also know that all I have left is my hope in God, for without that I would have no life at all.

Holy Spirit help me to pray as Peter did when he wrote his prayer: “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.  And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.  To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”  1Peter 5:6-11
