Expectations

Heavenly Father I praise You for the inspiration that we get from Your Spirit. I praise You for life being so diverse that it never gets boring unless we let it. I praise you for the wonder of life I see each day. I am in awe that no matter how far man thinks he has advanced there is always so much we have no explanation for.

Holy Spirit Your word says, “And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.” [Luke 2:25-26] I desire my faith, my walk to be in such a way that I am waking every day to the expectation of what You will open my eyes to see that God has done something that day. Let me not be caught up in the size or greatness but be amazed and kept in the wonder of God reaching into my world each day. Help me not to become so dull, disillusioned, or busy that I miss the blessings that God pours out each day, great or small. Let me rejoice and be thankful, while I keep my mind on You.

The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:10-15&18
