Getting By

Heavenly Father I give you praise and glory. Even though life is not going the way I want it to go right now I praise you anyway. I try to be thankful even when life is tough or painful. I am thankful for my salvation, my home in heaven, and the price paid for my salvation. I am most thankful that no matter how dark life gets I have hope. I have hope because of the resurrection of Jesus because he told us he was preparing a place for us. I have hope because this life is not all but a mere blip against eternity.

Holy Spirit help me today to stand on Your promises. To renew my mind with Your word. To be the living sacrifice that can be used to build Your kingdom. Help me continue to fulfill the purpose that You created me for and live as peaceably as possible with my fellow man. I know this world is full of chaos, hatred, sin, and evil but I also know that You are with me and as David wrote long ago you will sit down and have dinner with me in the midst of my enemies. Let me enjoy life and do my best to live for You even though today I must sit in a hospital and wait to get well. Not what I would choose but I have endured worse. You have helped me face death more than once and kept me here for a reason. Do not let me waste this time and do my best to live fully within Your will no matter what I am facing.

I thank my God always concerning the grace of God which was given to me by Christ Jesus, that I am enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in me, so that I come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm me to the end, that I may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom I am called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [1Corinthians 1:4-9]
