Heavenly Father, I praise You for today. I praise You for Sunday when I had a chance to meet with brothers and sisters, encourage each other, and worship together. I praise You for a church that believes in baptism and praying for and anointing those who need healing. I praise You for the laying of hands and prayer before my surgery.
Holy Spirit I come before You today, the day before my knee surgery and ask for peace to get done what I need to finish before being off from work. Peace that I am in the center of Your will. Peace that I will become and not anxious about all that could go wrong with this surgery. Help me to be focused on praying for those I have been praying over. To keep my mind on You and what Paul wrote to the Philippians: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. [Philippians 4:8] Help me to count my blessings and to use them as fuel to steady my faith and trust in You. Help me to be like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and be able to truly say in my heart no matter what God decides to allow to happen to me I will serve Him and trust in Him.
Let me continually offer the sacrifice of praise to You, oh God, that is, the fruit of my lips, giving thanks to Your name. Help me to not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices You are well pleased. I will do my best to obey those who rule over me and be submissive for they watch out for my soul, and they will give account for how they lead. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for me. For I am confident that I have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. But I especially am urged to do this. Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make me complete in every good work to do His will, working in me what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13:14-21)
