How Big Is God

Heavenly Father, Christ told us, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” [Matthew 11:28&29] You, Oh Lord, are our creator and our Father. In You, I place my trust daily because of Christ and with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit Christ said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” And He said, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [Luke 18:27; Matthew 17:20-21] I understand that when we pray we need to be humble enough to know that we have to allow and trust that God knows way more than we do or that we can see, so I know that some things not happening is not due to faith, but because it does not align with the will of God at the time. I also know that the first church was known to be Christians because of what their faith accomplished that was beyond the understanding of people. They saw healings, signs, and wonders because they had no limit placed on their faith. They also had eyewitnesses to Christ’s miracles and the removal of evil spirits.

Holy Spirit help me to pray with a faith that is only limited by being within the will of God. Help me to see You as so big that I truly believe nothing is impossible for You and that through You nothing is impossible as long as I believe. This is more about my trust and belief than it is in what happens or does not happen.

I have faith that my God is big enough not to allow the very men he inspired to write the words that we use for the Bible today to corrupt it. I believe that God created the world and all that is in it in seven days. I do not put a qualifier on how long 7 days are for it does not matter in my faith. I believe that God flooded the whole world at one time. I believe that Abraham was blessed and became the new starting point for all believers. I believe in the virgin birth, the life of Christ as wholly man and wholly God. I believe in the death on the cross for our sins, the resurrection, and I believe in God as one and three. I believe that only through accepting salvation do we become children of God. I do not put a specific way this must be done because Paul rightly told us when he wrote, “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” [Philippians 2:12&13] Finally, I believe this world will come to an end as we know because of what Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelations tells us. I do not worry about the how or when, I only believe it will. Heaven is my goal destination so that I can live eternally in the will of God the way He originally intended for us to live. I desire to Christ who died for my sins, family, and friends who went before me and I would like to meet the people I have learned through the word of God to hear their story.

Holy Spirit help me to put no limitations on what You can do or will do. Help me to pray with a faith that will demonstrate to this dark world that You are in control and that God’s light flows through me and that Your Spirit resides within me.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us to be adopted as his sons and daughters through Jesus, in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Amen. Ephesians 1:3-14
