Heavenly Father I praise You for the cold weather that kills many pollens and diseases in the air. I praise You for the good message I listened to on Sunday. I praise You for being still in control even though this world seems so out of control. I praise You for my family and my wife. I praise You for using her to teach me how to eat right so I can lower my sugar. I praise You for my Aunt Esther who passed away on Sunday. She was a very unique aunt who always loved on my children and grandchildren. She always was the epitome of hospitality. She will be missed but at least I know that she is in heaven meeting her Savior.
Holy Spirit I have often prayed Romans 12 written by Paul and inspired by You. Once again I would like to pray this portion of scripture but this time I will use the Message Version to help put it in my kind of language. “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going to work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly responded to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. I’m speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me, and especially as I have responsibilities in relation to you. Living then, as every one of you does, in pure grace, it’s important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.”[Romans 12:1-3, The Message]
Holy Spirit help my life to be completely and fully consumed by Your presence. Let me breathe in and meditate on Your presence and word so that I can pour out onto others who You are in me. Let my thought life, work life, family time and any other thing I do always be with You by my side and involved in it. Help me to temper my speech so that it is honoring to You. Help me to put forth the proper attitude so that I do not become angry because of pride or supposed rights. Help me to learn to find wisdom, consume and use it in all that I do. Help me to renew my mind so that all that I am is all that You have made me to be.
I pray that You will help me to prepare to speak on the 6th of February so that my words become Your words, my spirit becomes a vessel for Your Spirit to flow out from and that my actions are acceptable in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, amen.
