Heavenly Father, I praise You for creating me with a will. I know that sometimes that will is the cause of my destruction or separation from You. I also know my will, if it falls under the umbrella of Your will, can be the best pusher of who I am to what You want me to be.
Holy Spirit, Proverbs tells me to cherish wisdom as if it was a fine ruby. Christ tells me to love my neighbor and to pick up my cross and follow Him. Paul tells me to be a living sacrifice and to renew my mind daily. Hebrews tells me to daily come into the throne room and commune with Christ my advocate. Revelations, Daniel and Ezekiel all tell me that this world will end and then we will fully fulfill our purpose in eternity with God. But, Peter warns us that we are to stay the course, stand strong, and be ready to answer to the hope that is within us so that we can see Christ. Paul tells us to run our race with all diligence and perseverance so that we can reach our reward.
Holy Spirit instead of making a New Year’s resolution, help me to become more resolved in fulfilling Your will, to pray more fervently than I have in the past, and to read, worship, watch and be ready for Your coming. Help me to listen, obey and serve with all the will I can mustard.
But you, man [or woman] of God, flee from all this and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. 1Timothy 6:11-16
