Humility and Mercy

Heavenly Father I give You praise, especially on days like today where I feel depressed, down trodden, stressed, worthless and frustrated. I praise You that You listen to me. I praise You for Your word because it uplifts my soul when I read verses like: Psalms 116:1-2—I love the Lord, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live. Isaiah 49:16—See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before me. Hebrews 12:28&29 (the Message)—Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent, before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire! Hebrews 13:5—God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” 

Holy Spirit I come before You a broken man who is stressed by fears that are irrational and need to be put to rest. I claim the blood of Jesus and ask that You shelter me in the palm of Your hand and protect me from harmful, fearful and destructive thoughts. I know that I am a man of violence who has done well to control the reigns of anger and pain within me but I give this all over to You. I seek Your will, Your way of forgiving, Your way of loving and Your way of demonstrating hospitality and compassion to others. I ask that You will bring into captivity every thought that enters my mind and help me to think with a renewed mind and help me to keep my heart pure and my integrity clean before all men and You.  

Holy Spirit give me the wisdom to navigate each day and to do better in building the kingdom. Lead me to be bold in my faith, humble in my standing, strong and courageous in my defense of the hope that You have put in my heart. Give me understanding and knowledge on how to talk, act and live. Open my eyes with discernment to know what Your Spirit tells me and shows me to do in all situations of my life. Let my desires align with Your desires. Help me to improve our finances so that I can give to building Your kingdom.  

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen me with power through His Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me, to Him be glory, Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21
