Humility in Action

Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying His commands. Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of Godly people will be blessed. They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever. Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind teeth in anger and slink away, their hopes thwarted. [Psalm 112, NLT]

Holy Spirit Your word says: Whoever keeps Your word, truly Your love is perfected in them. By this, we know that we are in You. If there is any encouragement in Christ, comfort of love, fellowship of the Spirit, and compassion and mercy, then fulfill my joy and be like-minded, having the same love, being in unity with one mind. Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit, but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself. Let each of you look not only to your interests but also to the interests of others. Let this mind be in you all, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped. But He emptied Himself, taking upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in the form of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross. [1 John 2:5; Philippians 2:1-8]

Holy Spirit as Christ is my example help me to strive for righteousness and perfection in Him by humbling myself and serving Him to further the kingdom in any way that presents itself for me to do so. Help me to listen to Your Spirit and respond appropriately. Help me to see the world through Your eyes, help me to listen through Your ears, and help me to love through Your love for mine is tainted by sin and the evil of this world. Without Your love and forgiveness, I would not be able to love or forgive.

Therefore, as a part of God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, I will clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help me to bear with others and forgive whatever grievances I may have against others. Teach me to forgive as the Lord forgave me. And over these virtues help me to put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart, since I am a member of the body I am called to peace. Let me be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in me richly as I teach and admonish others with all wisdom, and as I sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in my heart to God. And whatever I do, whether in word or deed, help me to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
