Heavenly Father I praise You for each day I continue to move forward in life. I praise You for the people I have met, known, and still talk to. I praise You for the different mentors, leaders, and loyal friends whom You have brought into my life to help me be firmly planted and growing. I praise You for the opportunity to be a husband, a father, an uncle, a great uncle, and a grandfather. I praise You for desiring a relationship with me and moving in my life.
Holy Spirit as I get ready to see another year come and go, I seek to witness once again the wonder of who You are in my life. Help me to take the time to notice all that You do daily that we so often take for granted. Help me to realize that I live on a planet that is just at the right angle to sustain life, one that provides water, food, and air for me to breathe. Help me to see the wonder of a child and understand that I need to believe as faithfully as they do. Help me to continue to be amazed by all the beauty, life, and energy that is around me. Help me not to take for granted the family, friends, and co-workers that are in my life. Help me to be who You need me to be to all of them. Help me to fully realize what Christ said over 2000 years ago when he said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so, you will be My disciples. Help me to succeed in applying all that You said and promised to my life and how I live. Help me to continue to be a living sacrifice for You, and to renew my mind daily so that I can stay focused on what Your Spirit is leading me to do in life. Let all that I say, meditate on, give my focus to, be pleasing to You. Help me to see with Your eyes so that I can witness the wonder of Your hand, creation, love, and salvation. Let me be sensitive to the promptings of Your Spirit and die out to my will and sinful desires so that I can be holy and righteous as You desire of me. Let me take time to breathe and appreciate the delicateness of air and spirit coming in and out of me every second of my life. Let me see what truly needs to be seen, heard, or felt so that I can fully honor You in all that I am. Let me abide fully in You so that You can abide fully in me. Let me sing, play music, and dance to Your glory, and be humble enough to bow and listen to Your voice.
For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen me with power through His Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me, to Him be glory, Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!
