Keeping Clear Communication with God

Heavenly Father I come before You today and give You honor and praise. I praise You for being my Creator, Salvation, Comforter, Guide, and Friend. I give You honor for You are above all and deserve all glory. I seek within the relationship that I have with You that I will be able to take command of my morning so that I can shake evil out of it.

Holy Spirit You inspired the Apostle Peter who was married to write: “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.” [1 Peter 3:7] Help me to daily give my wife honor, respect, and understanding that this journey we do together. Help me to keep things clear between us so that my prayers are not hindered, stopped, or ignored because I have not honored Your inspired word. Teach me to love my wife with the love that Christ has shown to the church. Let my love be patient, honoring, respectful, and honest, and let it bear all the troubles she or we face. Let me be honoring always in how I talk about her in public and how I talk to her. Keep my pride in check so that I do not become selfish or arrogant to her or in front of her.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Holy Spirit help us to bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances we may have against one another. Teach us to forgive as the Lord forgave us. These virtues help us to put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body we are called to peace. Let us be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, help us to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. Colossians 3:12-17
