Learning to Trust and to Serve

Heavenly Father I praise You today for the mercy You have demonstrated by sending Jesus into this world to live among us and as one of us so that we could have an advocate in heaven.  I praise You for always using people to help accomplish what You need done so that we are part of the solution instead of just being the problem.  I praise You for giving us examples of people in the Bible who were willing to serve You even though it would cost them everything many hold dear.  I also praise You for demonstrating that they made mistakes and some would even fall into sin before repenting and moving on in their walk so that we could understand that we have free will and that we don’t always know what is best for us.

Holy Spirit in this season help me to learn the lesson demonstrated by Mary, the mother of Jesus, on going all in on serving You. When Gabriel came and talked to Mary and told her she would have a baby by the Holy Spirit coming upon her and the Highest overshadowing her, and that this baby would be Jesus the Messiah, prophesied by the prophets of old, she said, “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be unto me according to your word.”  With this phrase of acceptance Mary would face a life time of being looked down upon become of her scandalous pregnancy and later the behavior of her adult child, yet she continued to be faithful and to follow God.

Holy Spirit help me to be willing to listen to You and completely trust You that You have the best plan for me in life.  Help me to be willing to be a servant no matter the price it may cost me in my reputation. Help me to trust fully in You and not lean onto my own understanding.  Help me to serve with all my heart, mind and soul and be a living sacrifice daily, renewing my mind so I can be the best possible servant for You that I can possibly be.

Thank You for hearing my plea and help me to understand what it is that You need me to do even if it does not make sense to me.  I put my trust and faith in You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
