Heavenly Father, I praise You today for my job that allows me to pay my bills, help people, and support the ministry of my church. I praise You for the brothers and sisters I have all around the world who have accepted salvation and are actively serving You and building Your kingdom. I thank and praise You for the hope that is the foundation of who I am, and for how it pushes me beyond the chaos of this world. Help me today to take command of my morning and shake the evil from it.
Holy Spirit, help me today to be wise and discerning. As I am in class, help the knowledge I gain be usable for Your glory. Help me to temper what I say and to keep my spirit open to Your leading. Help me to offer up my life today as a living sacrifice to You, so that I can live, do, and relish in Your will. Help me to continually renew my mind with Your word, the testimonies of others, encouraging books, and through allowing my soul to sing to You. Help me to drink deeply of Your living water and to breathe in Your Spirit, so that I can exhale it out onto the people who desperately need You and Your salvation.
Let me continually offer the sacrifice of praise to You, O God—that is, the fruit of my lips, giving thanks to Your name. Help me not to forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices You are well pleased. I will do my best to obey those who rule over me and be submissive, for they watch out for my soul and will give an account for how they lead. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for me. For I am confident that I have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably, but I especially feel urged to do this.
Now may the God of peace, who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead—that great Shepherd of the sheep—through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make me complete in every good work to do His will, working in me what is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:14-21)
