O Lord, I will honor and praise Your name, for You are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now You have accomplished them. You turn mighty cities into heaps of ruins. Cities with strong walls are turned to rubble. Beautiful palaces in distant lands disappear and will never be rebuilt. Therefore, strong nations will declare Your glory; ruthless nations will fear You. But You are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat. [Isaiah 25:1-5]
Holy Spirit I seek to live a holy and righteous life. Your word says: “Let us search and try our ways, and return to the Lord! Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven.” “For the good, I desire to do, I do not do, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who does it, but sin that lives in me.” “I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by renewing your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” “If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus; that you put off the former way of life in the old nature, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that you put on the new nature, which was created according to God in righteousness and true holiness.” “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” “I say then, walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.” “Study to show yourself approved by God, a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Help me to remember that I walk with Your Spirit which dwells within me, that if I continue to renew my mind, die out to the world, live as a sacrifice to God and His calling each day, studying the word, doing good then I will not focus on, have time for or give time to, the sin that wars within me. God, You will have guaranteed victory through the battle as long as I choose to run from evil, seek You, ask You, and learn and use Your wisdom each step of the day, each day of the week, and each week of my life until I am made whole with a new body in heaven. I thank my God always concerning the grace of God which was given to me by Christ Jesus, that I am enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in me, so that I come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm me to the end, that I may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom I am called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [1Corinthians 1:4-9]
