Love is the Key to Binding Good Character

Heavenly Father, I praise You for teaching us love through longsuffering, good times, and bad times. Love motivates growth in humility, kindness, boldness, faith, and serving to build Your kingdom here. I praise You for Your love for the human race, as well as all of Your creation. Help me to take command of my day and shake all the evil from it and a hedge of protection for my family.

Holy Spirit, I realize that by accepting salvation, I have become part of your chosen, holy, and dearly loved. I also understand that You expect to help me to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Help me to bear with people and to learn how to truly forgive whomever I may have grievances with. Let me learn to forgive as Christ demonstrated, even when unjustly being nailed to a cross. I need to grasp that all these virtues most of I need to put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. [Colossians 3: 12-14] True love that is unselfish and unconditional is the key to doing all the rest and lets me live righteously and with power through the

trust and faith I am growing in. It does not mean I will keep letting people hurt me or my family by staying close to them, but I can forgive and move on in life without seeking revenge or holding a grudge.

I pray and ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of the You, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. You have delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. You are the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by You all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through You for You. And You are before all

things, and in You all things exist. And You are the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things You may have the preeminence. In Your blessed Son Jesus’ name, Amen. (Colossians 1:9-18)
