Moderation Is Usually The Best

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in Your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. For You have heard my vows, O God; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name. Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint Your love and faithfulness to protect him. Then will I ever sing praise to Your name and fulfill my vows day after day. [Psalms 61:1-8]

Holy Spirit I have come to the last of the fruits of the spirit that I need to learn wisdom in, temperance. Teach me to learn to have temperance when I do multiple things at one time in my life so that I do not take my eyes off You. Teach me to make temperance a fruit that I bear well so that I am not a stumbling block for others. Help me to find enjoyment in life without going to extremes of excessiveness so that I do not harm myself or others. Help me to be wise in how I enjoy life. Teach me to find contentment in life in little things so that I do not stress over the bigger things in my life. Help me to be steady in my walk so that I can get closer to You but still be able to apply what I learn from You with others.

Holy Spirit help me to demonstrate temperance in how I speak so that I do not spread wild stories, gossip, or speak with foul language. Teach me to grasp temperance in how and what I eat or drink, so that I do not hurt my body. Give me wisdom in temperance when working, exercising and doing any physical activities so that I do not injure or harm my body or keeps me from my responsibilities. Teach me to wisely use my time so that I give attention to my family, friends, people in need and my job. Holy Spirit help me to find balance in my attitude and in my emotions so that I do not hurt those I love or my neighbors.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Galatians 1:3-5)  moderation
