My Responsibility to be a Follower of Jesus

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Remember the word to
Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope. I will exalt You, my God
and King, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless
You and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and
greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unfathomable. One generation shall praise
Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. I will speak of the
glorious honor of Your Majesty and Your wondrous works. They shall speak of
the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall
abundantly declare the fame of Your great goodness and shall sing of Your
righteousness. For You are gracious and full of compassion and slow to anger
and great in mercy. You are good to all, and Your compassion is over all Your
works. All Your works shall praise You, O Lord and Your godly ones shall bless
You. They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power, to make
known to people His mighty acts and glorious majesty of His kingdom. Your
kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all
generations. The Lord upholds who fall, and raise up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all wait upon You, and You give them their food in due season. You
open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. You are righteous
in all Your ways and loving in all Your works. You are near to all who call
upon You, to all who call upon You in truth. You will fulfill the desire of
those who fear You; You also will hear their cry and will save them. You
preserve all who love You, but You will destroy the wicked. My mouth shall
speak the praise of You, and let all people bless Your Holy Name forever and
ever. [Psalms 119:35; Psalms 119:49; Psalm 145]

Holy Spirit I know that as Paul instructed I must: in view of God’s mercy, to offer my body as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is my spiritual act of worship. I
will not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by
the renewing of my mind. Then I will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will. My love must be sincere. I will hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to others in brotherly love. Honor others above myself. I am never be lacking in zeal, but keep my spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Being joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Always sharing with God’s people who are in need. Practicing hospitality. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that I, a man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. [Romans 12:1&2; Romans 12:9-13; 2Timothy 3:16&17]

Let me continually offer the sacrifice of praise to You, oh God, that is, the fruit of
our lips, giving thanks to Your name. Help me to not forget to do good and to
share, for with such sacrifices You are well pleased. I will do my best to obey
those who rule over me and be submissive for they watch out for my soul, and
they will give account for how they lead. Let them do so with joy and not with
grief, for that would be unprofitable for me. For I am confident that I have a
good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. But I especially am urged to do this. Now may God of the peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make me
complete in every good work to do His will, working in me what is well pleasing
in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen
(Hebrews 13:14-21)
