Prayer for Grade School Children

Heavenly Father I praise You for entrusting me enough to parent Your children. I praise You for teaching me how to love, coach, prepare, and instruct children as they learn to read, write, do math, navigate social peers, see the wonder of the world, and have a refreshing simple but solid faith. Help me to learn from them how to be humble but strong and resilient as I walk daily in Your light and wisdom.  

Holy Spirit Your word tells me: Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.” But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of heaven.” [Psalms 127:3-5(NKJV); Matthew 18:10(NKJV); Matthew 19:14(NKJV)] Help me to learn to be proud of the children You have allowed me to rear, help me to remember that they have guardian angels who talk to You daily, and help me to always lead my children to You, and any other children You allow me to teach.  

Holy Spirit bless my son or daughter today, help them to grow strong physically but especially grow in faith and spirit as they learn wisdom, knowledge, discernment and demonstrate understanding. Let me be the example worthy of being their parent and to speak and live a holy life for them as an example so that they can fully appreciate the wonder, power, amazing grace, healing, and salvation that You provide.  

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen me with power through His Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me, to Him be glory, Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21
