Prayer is an Exercise of Faith

Heavenly Father I praise You for the ability to worship You and talk to You through the Holy Spirit. I am so thankful that You listen and truly hear me and my heart. I praise You for being a God who knows me better than I know me, yet You seek me to spend time talking to You. I appreciate that I can come as often as possible to talk to You.

Holy Spirit help me to rejoice often, to pray without ceasing. To give thanks in every situation I am facing, for I know this is Your will through Christ who has given me salvation and my name placement in the Book of Life. [1 Thessalonians 5:16-18] I am learning that as I exercise my ability to pray, I am strengthening my faith. The more I converse with You, the more I learn to trust, obey, and act upon Your will. I know that if I am at a loss for words the Holy Spirit will either help me speak or speak for me in those situations. “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” [Romans 8:26&27]

I daily pray as James 1:5—If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. I also pray for understanding and discernment. I seek to grow in wisdom like Daniel, Faith like Peter, and Paul, perceptive like Christ, bold like Caleb, eager like David, strong like Stephen, and meek like Moses. Most of all I give myself daily as a living sacrifice to You so that I can know Your will, understand it, and act upon it so that I become the man You desire me to be. I want the faith to step out of the boat, but I want the boldness to not take my eyes off Christ and fear the storm around me. I want to be bold enough to take the promises offered to me knowing that only through the Holy Spirit am I even strong enough to do so. Your word says: For with God nothing will be impossible. And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and possess it, for we are able to overcome it.” God said to Moses and the people, “My Servant Caleb, because he had a different spirit with him and followed Me fully, I will bring him into the land where he went, and his seed will possess it.” [Luke 1:37; Hebrews 11:6; Numbers 13:30; Numbers 14:24] This is how I pray and desire to live my life. I pray daily and throughout the day so that I will have a heart that God sees as different and will allow me to have the blessings He has promised because I am willing to have the faith and the desire to claim them.

Praise be to You, God, and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed me in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For You chose me before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in Your sight. In love, You predestined me to be adopted as Your son through Jesus, in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which he has freely given me in the One he loves. In You, I have redemption through the blood of Christ, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of Your grace that You lavished on me with all wisdom and understanding. And You are making known to me the mystery of Your will according to Your good pleasure, which You purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In You I was also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of God who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, so that I, who has the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory. And I also was included in Christ when I heard the word of truth, the gospel of my salvation. Having believed, I am marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Amen. Ephesians 1:3-14
