Praying as a Righteous Man Should

Heavenly Father I come into Your throne room and give You honor and glory. I praise You for the mercy, grace, and salvation You gave me. I praise You for your trust in me to choose to do what is right and serve Your kingdom with all my heart. I praise You for our relationship over the past 42 years. I praise You for being with me through near-death experiences and the heartbreaks and brokenness I have had to face to become who You need me to be.  

Holy Spirit James tells us that a righteous man’s prayers avail much. Teach me to pray prayers that will avail much. Christ told us: But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. The author of Hebrews was inspired to write: Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be a high priest in the order of Melchizedek. And He desires that each one of us show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end. [Matthew 6:33; Hebrews 4:16; Hebrews 5:7-10; Hebrews 6:11] 

Holy Spirit help me to put on all my armor each day so that I can face the trials, temptations, and tribulations I may see, help me to bear the fruits of the spirit so that those around me can be encouraged and see Your kingdom. Let me pray without ceasing so that my mind is renewed and stays fully on You. Let me, as Your living temple, remain clean and offer up myself daily as a living sacrifice so that I can know Your will and act upon it correctly with the wisdom from correctly dividing and meditating upon Your word and listening to Your Spirit. Let my heart be a deep well that pumps Your living water up and out to thirsty people and let my words, my meditation, my heart, and my desires be pleasing in Your sight so that I can truly feel as Your child and know that I as just one of many stars will shine my light through dedicated and focused prayer and intercessory prayer and through the way I live each day before others.  

For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen me with power through His Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me, to Him be glory, Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21
