Praying for Kayla Smith

The following prayer is a bit unusual for my website because I am using Kayla’s full name. I have her permission and her own words to describe what she is battling. This courageous young woman has been battling POTS for many years now and still testifies to God’s love and forgiveness. I have prayed over her for many years, and I wanted to reach out for others to pray with me on a larger scale.

Heavenly Father, I praise you for the honor of being able to pray for others. I praise You for teaching me how to pray Your word back to claim the promises You have given us. I want to be faithful like the watchers on the wall of Jerusalem during the reign of King David. One of their duties was to call out to God all the promises he had made for his people and the city of Jerusalem. Let me pray for the promises so that I will have faith that they will come to fruition.

Holy Spirit I come before the throne with You as my voice and petition Christ to heal one of his children, her name is Kayla Smith. Kayla has been battling POTS for many years now. She goes to Physical therapy twice a week in Grand Rapids, Michigan to help her with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and secondary help for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. She has seen some positive results from this but it is still a long drive and has not helped her completely heal yet. She sees a Cardiologist in August and they are trying to find the right medications for her which is a trial-and-error process. She is also suffering from what is believed to be Slipping rib syndrome and she will be having a CT scan done next week so that all the paperwork can be completed for a surgeon, who has developed his own surgery to tie the ribs together to prevent the ribs from slipping out of place, this causes her a lot of discomfort. In October she will go back to The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Chicago for a repeat PET & CT scan, an MRI, Labs, and appointments with her oncologist and other appointments. She is still praying that You will help the doctors and surgeons see the tumors that are plaguing her so they can remove them and end her treatments in this area which are biweekly and very hard on her with many side effects. Holy Spirit I pray that You would help those who are treating her have wisdom and I am praying for complete healing for her so that she can show the world nothing is impossible for You. Above all, I, Kayla, and her mother pray that Your will be done in this matter and that Kayla will have peace with whatever Your will is. I stand on Your word and promise that says: Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. If our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment because we are like him in this world. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. [James 5:13-15; 1 John 4:16-18; 1 John 3:21-22; 1 John 5:4&5]

Holy Spirit I also pray for Kayla who just finished her Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies from Grand Canyon University, to be able to find the occupation that will allow her to demonstrate her abilities without jeopardizing her health. I pray You will do miracles of opening doors for her to have an impact on this world. Continue to bring people into her life that she can witness too, and those who can encourage and cheer her forward. Help Kayla to be so centered in You that her faith will not waiver and she will find peace, joy, and most of all Your love for her.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. [(2Corinthians 1:3-7); (Galatians 1:3-5)]
