Praying for My Children

Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting to everlasting You are God. You turn men back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, O sons of men.” For a thousand years in Your sight are like a day that has just gone by; or like a watch in the night. You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning—though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered. We are consumed by Your anger and terrified by Your indignation. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of Your presence. [Psalm 90:1-8]

Holy Spirit I come before the throne of King Jesus through You to petition for my children. Your word says, “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” [Mark 11:22-26] I believe You will overshadow my children with Your Spirit and protect them with Your angels. I believe You will help them grow strong in Your word, and Your wisdom and speak to them as You do to me. I petition that You help them to have a different spirit like Caleb that helps them see You as the key to defeating the impossible in their lives. I request that You supply them with the wisdom You developed in Joseph and Daniel when they faced adversity. I seek that they are grounded and strong in Your Spirit like Peter, Paul, and the other disciples. I desire for them to have open eyes and faith as the first churches in the New Testament did, by seeing Your wonder all around them, witnessing and praying for miracles, and having faith for the healings and restorations of families and relationships. I pray that their faith will become even greater than mine. I desire that they have a personal relationship with You and can stand firm on Your foundations of principles while fully arrayed in Your Spiritual Armor weathering any storm or tribulation that comes their way. I desire that they bear the fruits of the spirit so that they can be the vine that will feed the souls in our communities around them to build Your kingdom here on the earth. I pray that You will teach them to hope, believe, and love. I desire they gain wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment so that they can serve You with all their heart and live a very full life. Help them to learn to forgive and to be generous and hospitable to all people. Let them be proud of You only.

I thank my God always concerning the grace of God which was given to me and my children by Christ Jesus, that I am enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in me, so that I come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm me to the end, that I may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom I am called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [1Corinthians 1:4-9]
