Serving the Risen King

Heavenly Father I praise You for the opportunity to go back to the church I grew up in and be able to speak for You. I praise You for any and all chances I get to talk about You, the word and praying Your word. I praise You for creating me and giving me a purpose in life. I praise You for the hope that is within me.

Holy Spirit on the night in the upper room according to John, “Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands and that He came from God and was going to God, rose from supper, laid aside His garments, and took a towel and wrapped Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them the towel with which He was wrapped. Then He came to Simon Peter, and Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” Jesus answered him, “You do not understand what I am doing now. But later you will understand. Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not was you, you have no part with Me.” Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!” Jesus said to him. “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him. Therefore He said, “Not all of you are clean.” So when He had washed their feet, and put on His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord. You speak accurately, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” [John 13:3-15]

Holy Spirit help me to learn to serve others, even if it means washing dirty smelly feet. Teach me to love people for who they are and where they are at in life. Remind me I am not their judge You are. I am just Your servant who serves because of my love for You. How can I not serve You, when You went to the cross and bore my sins when You died? When You rose again three days later You provided salvation for us and the defeat of death. I long to one day walk in heaven with You and see You with my eyes. For now help me to walk with You and listen for Your voice. Help me to put all my cares out in the open to You. You are not only my King, but my companion in life who knows my heart so well, You know why I do what I do. Help me to show love to my wife, family, friends, co-workers and all who I come in contact with. Let me serve You so that they can know who You are.

Holy Spirit I dedicate my life to You as Paul was inspired by You to write, giving of myself as a living sacrifice to You daily, and renewing my mind so that I can know Your will and this will be my worship to You. [Romans 12:1&2] Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. [Psa. 19:14] In Jesus’ name, Amen.
