Trying Not to Lose Heart

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the gift of prayer. I praise You that I can come to You daily and often when life is good and bad. I can vent frustrations and weep. I praise You for being a God who listens, knows, and cares. Help me today to shake the evil from my day.

Holy Spirit, I lean on the simple but deep words of Christ when he said at the beginning of the teaching, “He told them a parable to illustrate that it is necessary always to pray and not lose heart.” Christ would go on to tell the parable, but I wanted to focus on His reason for the parable: that prayer is necessary to help us not lose heart. Prayer is what sustains me when I have days where my mistakes and poor choices overwhelm me. When I must stop and ask for forgiveness because I was foolish and hurt someone with words or actions. When I endure loss, failures, heartaches, and wounded pride, prayer brings me back to seeking God and desiring His will, and renewing my hope and faith for the long run that ends with eternity. Help me today as I struggle with failures and mess-ups that I can keep my hope and faith in

You, O Lord, and know that I am loved when I feel so unloved.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends You and leads me along the path of everlasting life. Help me to stand before You and allow the right kind of change to happen in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen. [Psalm 139:23&24]
