Understanding my Armor Part 2

Heavenly Father I praise You for my home, my family, my job and being able to get around.  I praise You for walking with me daily and having a purpose for me.  I praise You for my wife, my children, my grandchildren. I praise You for all the lessons that have forced me to stretch my faith, I may not have enjoyed the process but I am thankful for my faith to get me through.

Holy Spirit Paul’s letter to Ephesians tells us that in our spiritual armor our we are to have our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from peace.  I have learned to wear the appropriate shoes for the job expected of me, applying this thought process to my life I realize I should be ready to walk with people who need me to be support, go to people in need, run from evil, stand to be accounted for my faith and prepared for anything life throws at me.  I need to be fully submerged in my life with the gospel of peace so that where I go I will be calm and prepared in my faith to trust in the Holy Spirit to give me wisdom and confidence to stay in God’s will and represent Him with the correct attitude.

Holy Spirit help me to use my shield of faith to protect me from the flaming arrows of the evil one. Help me to understand that my faith in You is the only thing that separates me completely from the rest of the world. My faith is what will sustain me in my darkest hours and it is the only protection I can freely move in front of me to take the brunt of any and all attacks on my character, my spirit, my mind and my integrity.  Help me to increase my faith so that I increase my area of protection in my life.

Because we know that this extraordinary day is just ahead, I pray all the time—pray that our God will make me fit for what he’s called me to be, I pray that he’ll fill me with good ideas and acts of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something.  If my life honors the name of Jesus, he will honor me.  Grace is behind and through all of this, my God giving himself freely, the Master, Jesus Christ, giving himself freely. [2 Thessalonians 1:11&12(the Message)]  Help me to honor You in my attitude, my actions, my thoughts, in the way I demonstrate love and in forgiving people.  Let me not become proud and rebellious, or think myself better than anyone else for we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of You and only because of my acceptance of salvation and walking in the light given to me allows me to claim being an adopted heir of Your kingdom.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
