When Plans go Awry

Heavenly Father, I praise You for today and all that You created for it. I praise You for making us realize that our plans don’t always go as expected, but Your plans always work out as You intended. Today, Help me take command of my day and shake the evil from it.

Holy Spirit, the Bible, which You inspired the authors of the 66 books to write and the people who had to determine which books would be in the Bible has story after story of how people’s plans were changed, interrupted, or stopped but that Your plan was successful and far-reaching. Look at Joseph who dreamed he would be a leader, but was sold into slavery, falsely accused, and thrown into prison but because he was faithful to You ended up being the leader who would save Your people. Moses, his mother circumvented the Pharoh’s plan by putting Moses in a basic on the Nile and then rearing him under the Prince's protection, would train to lead under the Pharoh but after killing a guard had to flee to the desert and Moab. There he would be trained through his father-in-law to learn to lead as You would have him lead and then would lead his people out of bondage and to the border of the promised land. Joshua who faithfully served under Moses would be the one chosen to lead the people into the promised land. Gideon the youngest and the weakest would defeat a million soldiers with 300 men with horns and lamps. David, the runt would defeat Goliath and many others but because of sin, would not build the temple but his son Solomon would. Peter, Andrew, James, and John who were fishermen would drop all that to be fishers of men under Christ. Matthew a tax collector would become a disciple and author of one of the Gospels. Paul who was originally Saul went from being a Pharisee who persecuted, jailed, and killed Christ's followers would become the missionary to the world outside of Israel. John who served You would be exiled to Patmos and then see what would become Revelations. Even Satan who thought getting Christ killed on the cross would win would lose because that death would be the catalyst for our salvation and Christ would take the keys of hell and defeat death giving us eternal hope. God’s plans prevail and I ask today that You give me enough strength to have faith and trust in Your plans so that I can be used by You and fulfill my purpose in life.

I pray and ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of the You, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. You have delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. You are the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by You, all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through You for You. And You are before all things, and in You, all things exist. And You are the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things You may have the preeminence. In Your blessed Son Jesus’ name, Amen.
