I will do my best not to fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. I will trust in the Lord, and do good; I will live as well as I can in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delighting myself in the Lord, trusting in Him. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light. And your justice as the noonday. I need to learn to rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger and forsake wrath; I will do my best not to fret—it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, I will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more. But the meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. [Psalms 37:1-11]
Holy Spirit help me to take to heart what was written in Proverbs 12:25—Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. Today I will give my anxiety over waiting to hear about my interview, I will trust in you to help me keep my finances in check, that we pay our bills, fix what needs to be fixed on our house, deal with the deadlines at work, to continue to pray for healing for those sick in my family. I will not allow depression to settle in my heart when I have the joy of Your Salvation residing there. I am not forgetting my responsibilities or burdens I must bear, I just will not let them drag me down to despair. Help me to lean into walking with Your Holy Spirit and to trust with all my heart and not assume I know that much so that I give You all and believe in You to walk me through each trial.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of suffering. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power forever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
