Heavenly Father, I praise You for today. I praise You for creation, salvation, redemption, the hope of eternity, and life. I praise You for being a God who wants to be involved in my life and truly seeks my heart. Today, help me take command of my day and shake the evil from it. Help me to be a praying hedge for my family.
Paul wrote about whether he lived or died, what each would look like. I realize, especially since losing my son, that we need to live, love, and do our best to fulfill our purpose in life. We are, if we have accepted salvation and believe in God, become a disciple of Christ. We have the Holy Spirit as our guide, prompter, and connection to Christ. While Christ walked this earth, to be fully man, He, too, had to pray, seek out the Holy Spirit, and listen to know what to do. We forget that He gave up the direct connection to God to fully live as us to be our example. Help me to be a disciple that truly prays, seeks wisdom, uses knowledge and understanding to better the kingdom, learn to be discerning, and grows in my faith. Help me to be an intercessor for those who need to find Jesus, come back to Jesus, need healing, whether in body, spirit, or heart, and to help join with others to pray for the sick, serve the least of these in all that we do. Guide me to stand for true justice, but to temper my life with mercy, grace, and love as Christ demonstrated often. Let me worry more about how I represent Christ than what my reputation is.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power forever and ever. Amen. 1Peter 5:6-11
