Why Pray

Heavenly Father I praise You for Your word as a guiding light on the path I am walking. I praise You for wanting a relationship with Your creation. I praise You for the ability to pray, have hope, faith and trust that You are listening.

Holy Spirit Your word says: For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations. The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, “Yet I will gather to him others besides those who are gathered to him.” Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. [Isaiah 56:7&8; James 5:13-15; James 5:16]

Holy Spirit I want to be righteous and I want to be powerful and effective in praying. I want to be fervent in my prayers for I know that You hear me and those who pray with me. I pray Your word so that not only do I breathe in Your Spirit but exhale it out to return to You and to cover others.

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen [1Corinthians 1:4-9]
