Why Was I Made in the Image of God

O Lord, I will honor and praise Your name, for You are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now You have accomplished them. You turn mighty cities into heaps of ruins. Cities with strong walls are turned to rubble. Beautiful palaces in distant lands disappear and will never be rebuilt. Therefore, strong nations will declare Your glory; ruthless nations will fear You. But You are a tower of refuge to the poor, O Lord, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat. The oppressive acts of ruthless people are like a storm beating against a wall. [Isaiah 25:1-4, NLT]

Holy Spirit Your word says, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over “’ all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth,’” So God created man in His image; the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth.” Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. [Genesis 1:26 & 27; John 4:23-24; 1Corinthians 3:16&17]

Holy Spirit since I am a living temple for You to dwell in, I worship through You to the Father and I was made in Your image let me be grateful for how I am made, why I was made, and for the purpose You instilled in me. Let me be a beacon that shines the light that I do not need to change who I am, I can improve my health, and make my body as fit as I can but I do not need to modify it for others. I am perfect in You. Let me recognize the specialness of being uniquely made by You to have Your thumbprint on my life and that You dwell in me, and I will be whole for this reason and not others. Help me to not only accept the way You made me but also accept the life You have planned for me and not let Satan deceive me into believing a sinful life would be better for me. Teach me to love with the love of Jesus flowing through my spirit and to accept people the way God made them not what man thinks they should be. Help me to see their heart as You do, instead of being focused on outward appearance. David was chosen for his heart, not his looks. Peter and the disciples were chosen for their hearts, not their looks or their occupations. Paul was chosen after being afflicted with blindness. Let me not accept lust, mutilation, or anything else that tries to defy God and His ways as being good or right. Help me not to judge people but also not be sucked into their sin and defiance of You.

I pray and ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of You, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified me to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. You have delivered me from the power of darkness and conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. You are the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by You, all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through You for You. And You are before all things, and in You, all things exist. And You are the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things You may have the preeminence. In Your blessed Son Jesus’ name, Amen. (Colossians 1:9-18)
