Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. Instead, I have calmed and quitted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Holy Spirit Your word says, “Wisdom cries out in the street; she utters her voice in the markets. She cries at the corner of the streets, in the openings of the gates; she speaks her words in the city, saying: ‘How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge. Turn at my reproof; surely, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded, because you neglected all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes, when your fear comes as desolation and your destruction comes as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.’”
Holy Spirit, help me to always seek Your wisdom, not the foolishness called wisdom of this world. I know that You created the world, you fashioned man in Your Image and that You gave us free will to live so that we could willingly have a relationship with You. I also, know and believe that You made me with a purpose and that I am part of Your plan to help build Your Kingdom. I know that this world because of their delight in sin is seeing calamity, chaos and destruction on a scale that is rising slowly to the level of the two world wars.
Holy Spirit I also read and see the wisdom of Peter’s words inspired by you that says, “do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat. The earth also and the works that are in it will be burned up. Seeing then that all these things are to be destroyed, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, while you are waiting for and desiring the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens will be destroyed by fire and the elements will be consumed by intense heat? But according to His promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
